Holsworthy Golf Club Lady Veterans played their Monthly Stableford with a difference as each player was allowed to throw the ball once, kick the ball once and move it by the length of string provided to each team.
The winners certainly cottoned on, demonstrating their all round skills by coming in with 46 points. Newcomer Sandra Hawkett along with Sue Griffiths and Juliet Hill beat the rain and the rest of the field with Lesley Richardson and Sue Eaton taking runner-up spot with 38pts.
The Founders Trophy attracted a large field and scoring was excellent particularly for Mike Richmond his nett 62 putting him well ahead of second placed Tim Clarke 65 with Shaun Gifford 66 and Stuart Thorne 68 under par too.
Obviously in good form Mike carried on to top the Division I prize winners in the Veterans Stableford with 42pts three ahead of Chris Woolley and Ray Holness's 36pts giving him third place.
Ian Harper had a welcome return to form his 38pts being best in Division II with Graham Makin second 37 and Trevor Hayne third 35. Bob Bentham demonstrated his undoubted skill in drawing his own number out to take the day's top raffle prize.
Captain Tony Tomassi was hoping to start the season with a win when the team made the trip to Trevose only to find the opposition in good form so much so they won 51/2-21/2.
The pairings were Tony Tomassi and John Barnes, Colin Walmsley and Ian Hemmings, Brian Bowler and Eric Lake, Bob Gelder and Ken McGeorge, John Faithful and Alan Richardson, Bob Bentham and Mike Herbert, Chris Woolley and Peter Hoyland, and finally Tony Downing and Syd Pynder.
Hoping for a more positive result at Bowood optimism was the the fore but to no avail. Changes were made to the team but, again, the hosts came up trumps winning 6-2 and the harsh conditions of mist and continuous drizzle didn't help.
The eight pairings were Tony Tomassi and Alan Richardson, Brian Bowler and Eric Lake, Colin Gardner and Ivor Barriball, Bob Gelder and Roger Turner, John Faithful and Brian Toop, Colin Walmsley and Alan Seddon, Chris Woolley and Ian Hemmings, and Ken McGeorge and Tony Downing.
