SATURDAY evening saw the traditional start of Christmas festivities in St Teath.

Once again the village square was packed with people of all ages who had come to see the Christmas lights being switched on.

The evening was made even more special by a visit from Santa Claus along with two of his reindeer.

There were also stalls selling all types of Christmas gifts, refreshment stalls and a raffle with a mini iPad as the main prize.

A countdown to 6pm and the lights burst into life, switched on by the village’s carnival princesses Maisie and Tilly Brown, who also wished everyone a very Merry Christmas.

Roger Lyle, chairman of the lights committee, was delighted with the success of the evening and extended thanks to all the people who helped with erecting the lights and with organising the event.
