THE Cornwall Cricket Board has employed a Director of Women's Cricket and two Directors of Area Cricket.
Alan Hoskins has been appointed as the Director of Women's Cricket. Alan holds the UKCC2 qualification in cricket coaching. Alan is committed and incredibly enthusiastic about developing girls and women's cricket over the next few years. Alan will bring a lot of knowledge and organisational skills to the post helping to encourage and motivate volunteers and players to participate in the game which will ultimately benefit girls and women's cricket in the county.
The Director of Women's Cricket will be responsible for reviewing, advising and delivering a programme of events to develop and progress girls and women's cricket from grass routes to the elite county game. The Director of Women's Cricket will also be responsible for communicating and enthusing volunteers in the administration of girls and women's cricket.
The ultimate aim is to increase the number of junior clubs through developing club school links, junior competition and progression through the counties player pathway.
The Cornwall Cricket Board has also appointed two Directors of Area Cricket to work with the four cricketing Areas, Penwith, Duchy, Kernow and Tamar. The two individuals who have been appointed are Graham Gayton and Steve Raven.
Graham Gayton will have responsibility for working with Penwith and Duchy Areas, whilst Steve Raven will work with Kernow and Tamar Areas.
It will be their responsibility to work with the current Area committees to provide support and guidance through the player pathway from club cricket to Area cricket representation. The Directors of Area Cricket will also be responsible for raising the profile of Area cricket through the coordination of competition over the summer for the under 11s, 13s and 15s.
All three of these positions will enhance the opportunities for players from clubs through to the elite game for both girls and boys, which will make stronger and develop the players within clubs.
