THE Camelford Clean Air Group have furthered their discussion on their town’s 2016 nitrogen dioxide figures, which the group have deemed ‘the worst yet’.

Chair, Claire Hewlett, also a town councillor, highlighted the 2016 figures, which have caused a great amount of concern amongst members of the group, who have gone on to seek reassurance from North Cornwall’s MP, Scott Mann.

She said: “A couple of the readings went over the upper safe limit of annual mean 40ppm, for the first time.”

The figures show the areas of Camelford with the highest nitrogen dioxide readings. Sproulls (CAM5) reached an astounding 65.23ppm; followed by No. 7 High Street (CAM7) at 54.39ppm, and a number of areas at Fore Street reaching figures of 49.96ppm and 45.18ppm.

The biggest concern for the group is that two areas in the town, High Street (CAM8) and 50 Fore Street (CAM11) have gone over the upper safe limit for the first time. High Street is now measured at 43.38ppm and 50 Fore Street at 45.18ppm.
