CAMELFORD is set to be at the forefront of Cornwall Council’s next cabinet meeting on Thursday, March 16 (today), with discussions on Cornwall’s air quality included on the agenda.

Item 12 on the agenda, regarding the Clean Air for Cornwall strategy, will include discussions on the seven towns in Cornwall that have been affected by traffic and air pollution over the years.

During the meeting on March 16, the Clean Air for Cornwall document will be presented to cabinet, with a post consultation feedback to be reviewed and to receive a recommendation by cabinet.

Camelford is among Truro, St Austell, Gunnislake, Tideford, Bodmin and the Camborne, Redruth and Pool area to be included in this strategy, as each area has been found with a dangerous and serious level of air pollution.

Camelford was declared an air quality management area (AQMA) at the beginning of the year, with various hotspots in the town being found with high levels of pollution in the air.

The meeting will take place at Cornwall Council’s County Hall in Truro, at 10am, today (Thursday).
