ST TEATH’S popular Flower Festival will not go ahead this year, due to a variety of reasons beyond the church’s control.
Yvonne Tew, who used to be churchwarden, said some people have accepted the decision to withhold the festival, whereas others feel disappointed that the festival won’t go ahead as it is a popular event in the village’s calendar.
“I fully support the reasons why the flower festival won’t go ahead, and I think it’s a case of giving it a rest as well.”
Mrs Tew explained how the Arts Festival is to take place this year at the church instead, with the church being opened over that whole weekend to the public.
“We plan to hold the flower festival next year. By then, we’ll also have a new vicar. Local clubs and organisations will have the chance to arrange flowers and have them put on display at the church, and we don’t charge. It’s free to come along.”
