CITY College in Plymouth recently offered Launceston College’s Year 9 girls the opportunity to take part in a special activity involving technology.

The WISE event (women into science and technology) is a national scheme to give women the chance to take part in activities that they may not have the chance to take part in.

The pupils from the college had the opportunity to take part in a range of activities including construction, using brick work and motor engineering.

The students really enjoyed the activities as they were subjects they had not experienced before, with motor engineering being one of their favourites.

The pupils expressed their thanks to City College Plymouth for the time and effort they put into the day.

l YEAR 10 food and professional cookery students, Josh Mannino and Harry Mason, were in their element recently as they cooked to impress the judges in the County Rotary Young Chef of the Year competition at Richard Lander School in Truro.

They were asked to prepare, cook and serve a healthy three course meal for under £15.

A Truro student was crowned the winner, while the judges fed back to the boys that their talent will take them far. He added that they worked in a calm and professional manner as they kept their cool in the kitchen.
