ABOUT an hour before Bridgerule Carnival was to begin, a thunderstorm took place, resulting in flash floods and conditions never witnessed before at the event.

"But this was not going to stop the evening's proceedings and the village showed their community spirit by helping each other, resulting in an evening to remember," said chairperson, Mrs Sheila Cholwill.

"The carnival completed a full week of events which had been well supported and produced a great village atmosphere."
