SO OUR lacklustre district council had their final bash at council tax expense to celebrate good­ness knows what (the 'Post', March 26)! They and their well-breeched guests had a real get-together.

How scandalous that in this time of unemployment and recession that they could waste good money so carelessly. Them and us to be sure! Shame upon them all and a very good riddance to them.

Our once lovely Crooklets beach in Bude is impossible to folk like me and my wife. We are handicapped walkers and cannot cope with the dreadful cobbles and large stones. Years ago the beach was regularly cleared and we could walk to the water's edge.

Our entreaties to NCDC were ignored and pushed aside, no doubt a cash saving exercise by fit members and officers. Yet how much did this civic bash cost and others like it?
