MEMBERS of Bude and District U3A held a well attended Christmas tea party at the Falcon Hotel last Thursday.

One of the members had organised a thought provoking Christmas quiz, with many questions and photographs, which proved to be a great success.

During the party, a bouquet of flowers was presented to Wendy Jones by Fenella Wojnarowska for her duties as quizmaster.

After tea members were entertained by Friggin’ Riggin’ with their rousing renditions of Cornish songs, ending with a Christmas carol and Auld Lang Syne.

A U3A Christmas cake was shared by all, made by the Bakery in Bude, who donated a small Christmas cake as a raffle prize.

The Christmas raffle was a success with many seasonal gifts as prizes.

Lynn Biggs, Bude and District U3A media and vice-chair, said: “It was so good to see so many members enjoying a festive time together.”

The U3A’s next meeting is on January 21 at 2.30pm in The Parkhouse Centre where Alan Newcombe is giving a talk on Mercy Ships.

The next coffee morning is on Friday, January 8 at The Weir Cafe from 10.30am to 12.30pm. All welcome.
