CARRYING the Olympic torch was the "most surreal" experience for Evie Fairman, a student at St Joseph's School in Launceston.

Evie ran with the torch through Bodmin on Saturday (May 19) and was cheered on by thousands of people.

She was supported by friends and family who had travelled across the country and from overseas.

Evie's mum, Julie said: "It was the most surreal experience ever for her and us as a family."

Evie was "physically mobbed" by thousands of people who ran over to the green, where she carried the torch.
