FOR Wadebridge Choral Society's 30th anniversary concert the main work was Mozart's much-loved Requiem.
Although frequently performed it never fails to inspire with great melodies and wonderful opportunities for the choir, orchestra and soloists.
This concert, given at Wadebridge School on Saturday, April 25 was no exception.
The choir, under the direction of director of music Nicholas Danks, was in good voice, the Concert Orchestra, leader Ian Raymer, lent excellent support and the line-up of soloists — Rebecca Moon, soprano, Shirley Tyack, contralto, Charlie Higginson tenor and Charlie Murray bass, superlative.
Charlie Higginson had substituted at short notice for Nicolas Hawker who was indisposed, and inspired with his performance.
The programme opened with a little-known work by Haydn, his motet In sanæ et Vanæ Curæ, a tour de force for all and an exciting start to the concert.
The orchestra followed with a performance of Holst's Brook Green Suite for strings and the first half concluded with Mozart's ever popular Laudate Dominum in which the soloist was Rebecca Moon.
