CAFÉ Limelight, situated in the heart of the Castle Bude, has taken a positive step forward in stocking non-harmful and sustainable products, gaining a ‘single-use plastic-free’ status.
Café Limelight is leading the way for other businesses in the town, after announcing their single-use plastic free initiation.
They have stocked up with sustainable products from the Happy Turtle Company, which originates from Bude, making items such as sustainable milkshake cups, takeaway coffee cups and straws now available for customers to use.
The Happy Turtle Company is a new idea stemming from Bude lady Claire Giner, also a joint-owner of Rosie’s Kitchen at Crooklets beach. Claire initiated the fantastic idea after watching a video of a turtle having a plastic straw extracted from its nose.
This video alone spurred her on to change the way in which her own restaurant consumed and provided single-use plastic products, as well as encouraging other local hospitality businesses to change their ways too.
Since its establishment towards the end of last year and into 2018, the Happy Turtle Company provides sustainable and sturdy non-plastic products, meaning all businesses and consumers can continue to provide or buy their favourite takeaway foods and drinks, without the guilt of causing harm to the ocean and marine life.
Customers and visitors to the Castle Bude will now be able to pick up a drink to go, using sustainable products.
