McQueen’s Dance and Theatre School in Launceston performed their summer production, ‘The Greatest Show’ to their packed out studio on Pennygillam Industrial Estate last Friday and Saturday.

There were three sell-out shows over the two days, which saw huge support pour in from students, parents and members of the public.

Run by Rachel and Mark Oles, the pair have been focusing on the production since musical hit ‘The Greatest Showman’ came out two years ago.

The two-day show has made the pair extremely proud of all their talented students.

They said: “A massive thank you to all the students, parents and supporters of McQueen’s Dance and Theatre School CIC. Three sell-out shows in two days is amazing and we’re so proud of each and every one who took part.

“From the amazing cast to the fabulous front of house team, the parents and students who helped with costumes or looking after so many children, hair plaiting, makeup application, moving furniture and a copious amount of other jobs — you are all appreciated and we could not have done it without you.”

Students range from two to 60+ years old. Each and every student is valued and encouraged to be part of productions, with their aim being to build confidence, teach skills and give opportunities for everyone to shine and thrive.

Rachel and Mark continued: “It isn’t all about the glitz of the show, but part of what we do is to share the fantasy and magic that is performance art, and we hope we managed to bring a bit of this sparkle and joy to our audience.

“Lessons begin back in earnest now, teaching new skills and welcoming new students. We will be performing in and supporting various local events, including Tesco’s dance beats fundraiser on July 18, 19 and 20 — catch us dancing in the aisles!

“We will also be part of the Launceston Carnival and support the wonderful Christmas events put on by the Chamber of Commerce each year, as well as welcoming audiences back to our studio at Christmas for our annual festive showcase.

“Thank you to you all from the bottom of our hearts.”
