THE Port Isaac RNLI branch is celebrating a record year of fundraising — topping £37,000.
Members were told of the news at the branch's 48th annual meeting since the re-opening of the station with the D Class Inshore Lifeboat in 1967.
Guests included Martin and Ryan Langdon and Dave Nicoll, senior area manager for the RNLI South West.
Martin, who is leader of 1st Wadebridge Scout Troop, presented a cheque for £180 on behalf of the troop from money raised at various events. He also donated £528 from donations given in support of his Christmas lights display at his home in Wadebridge. He puts on the display each year in memory of his friend, Peter Sleeman.
Chairman Bob Bulgin and branch treasurer David Raynor announced a record year for the fundraising branch, which now sits at £37,880.
The amount includes the twinning arrangement set up in 2013 with Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City RNLI branch to help with crew training costs next year.
