FOR several years Bradworthy has brightened up the Square with Christmas lights and this year’s switch on, held on Saturday, December 2, was a real spectacle.
Volunteers helped light up the shops, bedeck the trees around the square and the annual Christmas tree was also decorated splendidly.
At 4.30pm Cllr Richard Boughton, chairman of Bradworthy Parish Council, introduced the event and welcomed everyone. The lights were switched on this year by Mark Burnett, the UK regional director of Seiche.
Bradworthy Primary Academy children, as they do each year, sung a selection of carols with their band providing the music.
Immediately after the switch-on, Devon County Councillor Barry Parsons joined the children in singing ‘Silent Night’. Cllr Margaret Coles said: “It was brilliantly performed and much appreciated by the watching crowd! They certainly make an excellent double act!”
Cllr Boughton closed the event and extended his thanks to Mr Burnett, all those present for attending the event, the school for their contribution and the volunteers who worked so hard to provide the display.
