YOU would be wrong to think nothing goes on at Holsworthy Museum when it is closed over winter — over the last few months volunteers have worked hard, transforming the 17th century building.
Following the winter recess the museum reopened on Monday. Throughout the closure volunteers have been reorganising the displays and making new ones.
The museum is housed in part of a building, which is itself a museum piece, a small manor house dating from the 17th century, which was once used as a parsonage.
There are five separate rooms, individually themed, which cover the history of Holsworthy, local tradesmen's tools, medical and apothecary items, world war two and a kitchen with its original cobbled floor, copper and fireplace.
Volunteer Anna Marshall said: "We have tried to de-clutter the museum, opening it up and making it more wheelchair-friendly."
