A GROUP of eight Launceston College Year 10 students began A Levels when they were just 14-years-old, and nine months later, were celebrating success with 100% achieving grades A-C.

In the English AS Level creative writing, six students completed the course during after school lessons, with all achieving A-C.

Coral Benfield gained a grade A, while Daphne Xulu achieved grade B. In citizenship, Georgia Hill also achieved a fantastic grade A with Beth Chadburn achieving a B.

While studying for their GCSE exams across a range of subjects, the students have all shown how there is no limit to the success that is possible. This year the college has eight students in Year 13 who will be aiming to achieve places at either Oxford or Cambridge university. The Year 10 students will be similarly aiming high when they are in sixth form.

Principal, Bryan Maywood, said: “I am hugely proud of the students and also of the staff who have supported them with this success.”

The Launceston College ‘Aspire’ project, led by Dan Wendon, works to ensure there is no limit to aspiration and has a number of former Oxbridge professors supporting students with their university applications.

The college’s Open Evening is on Thursday, September 29 and begins at 5.30pm.
