AN 11-year-old girl has had her hair cut to donate to the Little Princess Trust.
Kathryn Worth, who goes to Launceston College, has also raised money for the charity, which provides wigs and hair pieces for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.
The haircut was carried out free of charge by Rob Hume Hair on Monday afternoon. Rob said he was ‘more than happy to help’, and some of Kathryn’s family members travelled all the way from Newcastle to support her.
Kathryn’s mother Sue Small said: “She knows somebody who has alopecia, which gave her the idea to help somebody with hair loss problems.
“Before Christmas she thought about it, and said I want to help. She looked it up on the internet and found Little Princess Trust take donations of hair for children with cancer who have hair loss.”
Kathryn said: “I just heard people are suffering from it.” Of her new short style, she added: “I like it!”
Her mother added: “We are so proud of her — it is all her own idea. Hopefully it will inspire other people to do the same.”
Anyone wishing to donate can call into Rob Hume Hair or call Sue Small on 01566 776307.
Monica Glass, charity manager at the Little Princess Trust, said: “What a great girl Kathryn is! What beautiful hair too! Though so young, Kathryn is doing so much for others. By donating her hair and raising money too, she is helping the charity and therefore the children that we assist, in two ways. Thank you, Kathryn!”
