A letter to the 'Post' From Peter Rowe: I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Inspector Andy Lewis and his team for ensuring that for the first time in years there was no vehicles parked in the Square or on the approach to St Mary's Church for this year's Remembrance Parade. This was very much appreciated by all those in the parade as well as those who watched the proceedings. It was also very pleasing to see that there was no traffic movement outside the Town Hall during the National Anthem. I know that the police have taken a lot of flack in the past, but I feel that it is important to acknowledge when a job is well done, and it certainly was this year. I would also like to thank all those who turned out on Sunday, both those who paraded and who made up the large crowd in the Square. I would like to thank the Rev David Michaels for the lovely and original service. Members of the Burma Star laid up their Standard at this service, and it is only right that on behalf of the town, I thank them all for their service during the conflict and since. We will miss them! I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Launceston Male Voice Choir and the members of the Junior Band for their performances at the Remembrance Concert on Sunday evening. It was a very polished performance by both parties and enjoyed by the many people who attended. I thank everyone who has supported the RBL and the Poppy Appeal this year, and many people will be helped with the money raised. President, Launceston branch of the Royal British Legion.
