A BARBECUE organised by Holsworthy Lions at a colour run event has raised £500 for North Devon Hospice.

The barbecue was provided at a 'Colour Me Happy' event, organised by North Devon Hospice earlier this year.

All proceeds from the run went towards the hospice's Long House outreach centre appeal. Members of Holsworthy Lions recently presented its proceeds from the barbecue to the hospice.

Immediate past president Ray Fursdon met Jenny Richardson from North Devon Hospice in the grounds of Holsworthy Medical Centre where work on the new building has just started.

Ray said the Lions were 'very happy' to donate the money raised back to the Long House Appeal: "The whole point of the Lions is to raise money to help fund and support local people and organisations in the Holsworthy area — and this is just one of the many worthy causes we have helped in 2014."
