DOG mess was one of the items addressed by Bude-Stratton Town Council’s environmental services and highways committee at its meeting at the Parkhouse Centre’s conference room last Thursday.
Methods of deterring it were discussed, but it seemed clear that the number of people prosecuted for not picking up their dog’s mess was too small to warrant asking Cornwall Council to employ more dog fouling enforcement officers and wardens.
Cllr Julia Bryson said it was all well and good seeing someone not picking up after their dog had fouled, but actually gathering enough proof to see anything done about it was another thing.
Cllr Peter Moores agreed and added that he had only ever known of one person in the area who had been prosecuted.
It was decided that the best way to make some progress would be to get town clerk Donna James to enquire about the current activity of the dog fouling enforcement team and to find out if they have been to the Bude-Stratton area in the past 12 months.
