PERRANPORTH made the long journey to Week St. Mary to play in the quarter-final of the Wovina Embroidery League Cup and suffered an emphatic 9-2 defeat, writes Chris Warneford.
In the first half, with a strong wind advantage at their backs, the hosts took a three goal lead through Wayne Hannaford, Ben Smeeth and Sean Johns.
They expected the visitors to challenge this in the second half but a further three goals in the first seven minutes from Sean Johns, Rob Pearce and Rob Hambly, put the game out of reach.
Rob Woodgate scored his first for the club with Sean Johns increasing his tally to four. Perranporth replied with goals from Johnny Williams and Lee Denton.
