‘LIGHT Up a Life’ this Christmas and remember someone special at Holsworthy Methodist Church on Saturday, December 10.

Christmas is traditionally a time for family and friends to get together, so it is natural that at this time of year people’s thoughts can turn to those who are no longer here. Light Up a Life services offer people the chance to honour a loved one’s memory together with many others doing the same, which can help people realise that they are not alone in missing someone special at this time of year.

Donations can be made to the North Devon Hospice and Children’s Hospice in return for a candle, which can be lit in the memory of a loved one during one of the special ‘Light Up a Life’ services being held across North Devon.

As part of the appeal the team behind Light Up a Life will send those who donate a special star in the post, which can be hung on people’s Christmas trees. Messages can also be written on the star to a loved one. Their name will also be entered into a special book of remembrance.

Donations made to the North Devon Hospice in memory of a loved one will go towards making a difference to those who need care today and in the future from the hospice.

The hospice works hard every year to provide care for those with a life-limiting illness and support for their families. All the support they provide is completely free and relies on the generous donations of the local community.

North Devon hospice needs to raise £4-million from scratch every year in order to continue to care for the thousands of people they help through the toughest times. Supporting the Light Up a Life appeal can help those in need in Holsworthy and the surrounding area who are benefitting from the services provided by the hospice.

For those who are unable to attend the Light Up a Life event in Holsworthy Methodist Church, but still want to donate and remember a loved one, this can be done on the website www.northdevonhospice.org.uk or call 01271 347232 for a leaflet.
