RGB Building Supplies, established in 1850, is asking members of the community to help gather a record of its 166-year-old history.
RGB wants to create an archive of its rich past, having now been operating in 16 branches across the region, including one in Pennygillam Industrial estate in Launceston.
It wants to look into the people who worked for the company over the years, as well as what was occurring in the wider community throughout this period.
Keith Harris, the product and marketing manager at RGB Building Supplies, said: “Last year, we donated five bogie rail trucks to the Lynton and Barnstable Railway. These were used from the early 1900s to the late 1960s to move timber around our old Pilton Yard in Barnstaple, and it was these that got us thinking about trying to find other pieces of RGB’s past.
“So, whether something is five or 50 years old, we’re looking to create a comprehensive record of our history, and would love to see what items or memories people in the local community have.”
Anyone with old receipts, leaflets, brochures, quotes or photographs, or who know someone with an RGB-related story, is urged to contact the merchant.
Contributions can be dropped into the Launceston branch or emailed to [email protected]
