A FIRE appliance from Okehampton was mobilised following calls from residents reporting a car on fire outside a property in the town, at Giblands Park at 7.29pm on Wednesday, October 23.
The fire quickly spread and caught an adjacent car alight too, increasing the number of calls to fire control. Based on this information another fire appliance from Okehampton was mobilised to assist.
The vehicles were well alight on arrival but crews quickly had the fires under control, using two breathing apparatus wearers and two hose reel jets, confirming that they had been extinguished at 7.48pm.
Crews were then able to make the vehicles and scene safe, before handing duty of care over to the police.
The vehicles were severely damaged, with some adjacent fencing sustaining slight damage as a result. Crews prevented the fire from spreading further and there were no casualties.
