POLICE are asking people to be extra careful after several sheds were broken into in areas bordering Launceston.

A police spokesperson said: “Please secure your sheds and think about making it difficult to see what you have in the shed.

“Remember ladders and tools stolen from your shed is not only an inconvenience,  but could be used to break into your home or neighbouring homes.

“If you see anything suspicious then call the police. Use 101 if a theft has happened and there is no one around. 999 if you are watching someone breaking into your or your neighbour’s shed.”

At this time of year in the heat people are also advised to be mindful of leaving windows and doors open. There have been several instances of persons seen looking into open widows.

People should remain vigilant and if they see anything suspicious take down a description and details of any vehicle and contact the police.

Patrols are aware and will pay attention to the area, but the public’s help will be appreciated.

Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or reporting online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org
