A LORRY driving through Holsworthy was damaged recently, after an object was thrown from a bridge and dented the top of the cab.

Mark Wooldridge, the owner of the cattle lorry involved, is offering a £500 reward, for information leading to a successful prosecution.

On the morning of Tuesday, June 6, at 4pm the cattle lorry was being driven underneath the footbridge in Holsworthy, that links the sports hall car park and the primary school.

According to Mark, two youths were spotted at the top of the footbridge before the object was thrown.

He said: “If the timing had been a split-second different then it could have gone through the windscreen and injured the driver, or worse still if it had hit a car it could have had the potential to have killed someone.

“Our driver is understandably very shaken. As he was concentrating on the road in front of him and not the footbridge above, we don’t know much more than it was two people, possibly teenagers.

“The police have been informed but we don’t hold much hope of them finding the culprits. Apparently this is not the first time it has happened in the last few weeks at the same location.”

Police are currently investigating an incident where an item were dropped onto passing traffic from an overpass in Holsworthy.

This is believed to have taken place at around 4.15pm on Tuesday, June 4 on Sanders Lane, when a cattle lorry was hit by a piece of wood thrown from the footbridge.

A police spokesperson said: “Units attended and conducted an extensive area search including CCTV but so far has proved fruitless.
