FIRES broke out in two areas of gorse on Cornish moorland on Thursday night.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service crews were called out to Cardinham Moor, near Bodmin, at 11.18pm and were in attendance throughout the night.

The blaze started on the same night as a large fire at Peter Tavy on Dartmoor in Devon.

It was also only a few days after a fire at the Rosenannon Downs Nature Reserve, which caused extensive damage and where arson is suspected.
