A NUMBER of fire crews were called to a fire at a residential address at Parc Pennkarn in Delabole, just before 8pm last Thursday, April 9.

Critical Control received the first of two 999 calls reporting smoke coming from the property.

Two appliances and a 4x4 unit were mobilised from Delabole and Wadebridge Community Fire Stations. A Group Manager also attended as the Incident Commander.

On arrival the crew confirmed smoke issuing from the property and requested assistance from a third appliance.

A crew from Launceston Community Fire Station were returning from Bude where they had been on standby, and were diverted to this incident.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. Once the fire was extinguished crew used a positive pressure ventilation (PPV) fan to clear smoke and a thermal imaging camera (TIC) to check for hotspots.

Crews remained on scene with Western Power Distribution making the scene safe.

A fire spokesman said the cause is unknown at this stage but a fire investigation was due to take place the following morning during daylight hours.
