A COUPLE from Five Lanes, near Launceston, are appealing for information after their two labradors went missing from their home last Saturday.
Wayne and Emily Farr are appealing for information and witnesses after their family dogs, Tangi and Maude, a fox red labrador and a black labrador, went missing from their home at Halvana, Five Lanes, on the morning of Saturday, April 27.
The couple are devastated, and are now appealing for information as the search for the two dogs continues.
“We’re just doing everything we can to get the message out there,” Wayne told the Post. “They went missing on Saturday morning from the woods at Halvana, where we live. They were just out there on their own.”
Through the power of social media, they were contacted by someone who had reportedly seen two men driving around the area in a Peugeot van around the time the dogs went missing. “It is a bit unusual,” Wayne added.
The couple reported the dogs’ disappearance, and police are now treating the incident as a theft.
Wayne said he and his wife have contacted everyone they can think of to try and spread the word, including dog wardens in Cornwall, the Forestry Commission, police and local vets.
“Our boundary is where the woods start, we sort of treat it like it’s our back garden,” Wayne continued. “Obviously this has had a huge impact on us, my wife in particular. The dogs are part of the family, we’ve had both of them since they were puppies. The black one is actually my dad’s dog, but they’re always there together.”
Tangi is a four-year-old, female fox red labrador and Maude is a female black labrador. They were both wearing collars at the time of their disappearance.
“They’re both young, very friendly dogs. If someone opened the door to their vehicle they would quite happily jump in,” Wayne said. “Their friendly nature probably hasn’t helped them one bit.
“For anyone that may have seen or heard anything, please just get in touch with the police. There is a cash reward to get the dogs returned. Someone must know something — there are so many dog walkers and people who go riding out onto the moors. One of the dogs might have got into trouble, but the other one would have come back. Someone somewhere may have recently got two new dogs, so please keep an eye out. It is just very unusual.”
Police are treating the dogs’ disappearance as a potential theft.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police are investigating reports of a theft from a property in Launceston on Saturday, April 27 at around 10.45am. It was reported that two labradors, one fox red and one black, had been taken from an address in Altarnun.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CR037171/19.”
