A DRIVER called emergency services when their 4x4 caught fire on the A388 at Holsworthy Beacon on Monday morning (July 30).

Firefighters from Holsworthy arrived on scene within minutes after being alerted at around 9.30am and set to work extinguishing it with one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus wearers.

Police were requested at this time also for traffic control.

By 10.07am the fire was under control, with them continuing to damp the vehicle down before making it and the scene safe.

By 10.20am the incident was complete and duty of care was left with the owner awaiting recovery and police carrying out traffic duties.

The vehicle was severely damaged by the fire, which started accidentally, but there were no injuries.

FIREFIGHTERS from Delabole attended a collision on the B3314 near to the village at 12.45pm on Monday (July 30).

A motorcycle and car were involved in the incident and crews used small tools to make both safe.

A TWO-VEHICLE collision left a VW van on its side on the A39 near St Kew Golf Club on Tuesday morning.

Police were called at 7am and one man was reported to be injured.

The road was blocked while vehicle recovery took place.
