POLZEATH Coastguard were paged to a female walker on the coastal path between Port Isaac and Port Quin on Wednesday, October 9, who was thought to have suffered a broken ankle.
Despite the tricky location overlooking the coast, the team were soon able to stabilise the woman while two paramedics made their way to the scene.
However, the Polzeath team requested assistance from Boscastle Coastguard Team to make up additional numbers for a ‘long and very technical’ stretcher carry. The woman was then taken to an ambulance which was waiting for her at a nearby farm.
Polzeath Coastguard has issued the following advice for anyone who spots someone in trouble by the coast: “Dial 999 and ask for the coastguard. They will then task to the appropriate resources — coastguard, RNLI lifeboat or lifeguards or the HM Coastguard Helicopter, as well as the ambulance, fire crews and paramedics if needed.”
