LEWDOWN Young Farmers’ Club held their second annual charity tractor run, with 85 tractors taking part, on Sunday, March 17.
The event was a massive success, with over 85 tractors taking part and raising £1,250 for the club’s chosen charities, MIND and Cancer Research UK.
Event organiser, Becky, said: “We are so impressed by how many tractors and general public came and supported us, considering this is only our second ever one.
“We chose Cancer Research as a charity to support as we all know someone who is affected by cancer and is a worthwhile charity to support. We also chose MIND as one in four people are affected by mental health. With this issue becoming ever more present in the farming community, it’s good to support them and let people know that there is this charity if you need support.”
Becky added: “Thank you, firstly, to all the people to came and supported, Phil Uglow who organised the route for the run, but most of all the members, club leaders and parents who got stuck in and helped throughout the weekend from setting up the hall, getting all the food prepared and being at the hall from 8.30am on Sunday morning cooking bacon rolls and stewarding tractors. Without them it wouldn’t have been such a success!”
The club’s next charity event is their Easter bingo on April 1 at Lewdown Hall, 7.30pm, in aid of MIND and the Farming Community Network. For further details, go to their Facebook page, Lewdown Young Farmers.
