HUNDREDS of people packed a school sports hall last week, to give their views on plans for eleven-turbine wind farm — one of North Cornwall's biggest. Cornwall Council called the public meeting to enable members of its strategic planning committee to hear views from protesters and supporters, before it makes its crucial decision in the next few months. Dubbed The Big Wind Farm, developer Good Energy proposes the 125m-high turbines on a site, which spans five parishes — Week St Mary, Jacobstow, Warbstow, North Petherwin and Whitstone. More than 300 people travelled to Budehaven School where they aired their views to Cornwall councillors, who could consider the application at a meeting in June. The online application has received hundreds of letters, both supporting and objecting. Objectors are concerned over the impact to the area, on tourism, house prices, noise and visual impact. Meanwhile, Good Energy says the area will receive numerous benefits, including a £63,000 community fund and a learning centre.
