TRESPARRETT Methodist Church celebrated 140 year of witness recently.
A display of wedding dresses, christening gowns, hats and going away outfits were displayed — with one of the christening dresses being more than 100-years-old, and a wedding dresses 70-years-old.
An interesting collection of old Bibles, sunday school rewards, photographs of past events at the church and memorabilia were on display for the people gathered to reminisce over a Cornish tea.
There was also a photo of the inside of the chapel showing a gallery behind the pulpit. It was understood at one time to house an orchestra, which accompanied the singing in the late 1800.
The Sunday morning service was conducted by Mr Bernard Melling of Saltash, a past local preacher on the Week St Mary Circuit — of which his father Rev James Melling was a past minister.
It was a very enjoyable weekend at Tresparrett and proceeds went The Children's Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal and Chapel funds.
The Friends of Tresparrett thanked Wroes of Bude and Davidstow Church for their assistance with equipment and all who attended for their support.
