AFTER 114 years, St Breward has started its first junior band and will be kicking off with a festive feast of music.

Due to high running costs and a lack of numbers, the village silver band has been struggling to continue and now works in conjunction with Wadebridge Town Band, allowing both groups to stay afloat. The latest drive for members, of all ages, began in April and after several months, eight youngsters have joined the junior section.

Longstanding member, Mike Rowe, said: "It's a positive start, but it's not been easy. We are still inviting any past members or anyone with musical ability to come and join us."
