BOTH of Bude’s teams enjoyed a fine day at Newquay RFC on Sunday, April 27 as both won at the CRFU Under 16s Cup Finals Day.

The boys, who have also won the League Shield title, took on St Austell in the Plate and were 62-12 winners.

Player-of-the-match Lucas Bisby helped himself to four tries while Oliver Wainman (2), Ewan Shadrick, Dylan Dumbleton, James Fenwick and George Eaton also crossed with the latter also notching six conversions.

Bude Under 16s girls rounded off the perfect season as not only did they win the league title, they then eventually eased past Redruth 36-22.

Girl-of-the-match, No.8 Lily Johns, scored two tries with Katie Hilton, Gabbi Tofani, Neve Hawkins and Tilly Paynter also dotting down.

Three players – Eliza Colwill, Maebh Collen and Minnie Downing – added conversions on a fine day for the club.

Reflecting on their achievements, a club spokesperson said: “What a day for Bude RFC, our under 16s boys and girls teams winning their respective finals!

“The boys in dominant fashion put on a fine display backing up their League Shield title, while the girls are now undefeated all season, after winning the league went onto to do the double.

“Full credit to both sets of coaches who have done a fantastic job with these players.”
