A YOUTH football tournament held in St Breward has raised nearly £1,700 towards one youngster's fight against Meningitis.

Riley Dingle contracted the illness on June 9, 2008, when he was only 11-months-old.

Meningitis is an infectious disease that can kill within hours or leave suffers with severe after-effects, including brain damage, deafness, and where septicaemia (blood poisoning) has occurred, even loss of limbs.

Riley had Meningoccocal Septicaemia and lost the tips of his fingers, toes and part of his left foot. He has also got a lot of scarring to deal with.

Riley is doing really well now, and despite all of what he's been through, is just as cheeky and active as any other six-year-old.

He is a keen football fan, but is currently unable to join in the rough and tumble of the sport as he continues with ongoing treatment.
