A young storyteller from Launceston has won a competition which will see his most recent story held in the British Archives.
Back in November 2022, Harvey Relf, aged seven, entered a young writers competition after being told that those from his year group would be tasked with the challenge of composing a 100-word story which featured a twist.
Being a fan of reading, and challenges, Harvey got to work writing his very own story “The Wild Boar”, all about a wild boar who wanted to meet his friends and magically became King Charles III.
St Catherine’s CofE Primary School has since been informed that three of the children’s stories from the year had been handpicked to be published, including Harvey’s.
Harvey’s mother, Kay, explained: “Harvey came out of school smiling and shouting “My story has been picked and is being published!” Telling every parent he knew “My story is going in a book.”
Harvey’s story will be a part of the young writers storybook “A Twist in the Tale”, which will be held in the British Archives forever.
Following his successes, Harvey is now looking to turn his hand to a few more upcoming writing competitions. His mother, father and grandparents are very proud of him, and his mother added: “We would like to thank St Catherines CofE for the opportunity to enter these competitions.”
