WORLD-class poetry was on display in Launceston Town Hall on the evening of Wednesday, May 16 as Canadian artist Tanya Davis launched this year's Charles Causley Festival.

Ably supported by Totnes-based humourist Matt Harvey, Tanya delighted an enthusiastic audience with her unique marriage of poetry, storytelling and song.

Most famous for her moving short film How To Be Alone, which has been viewed by over four and a half million people on You Tube, Tanya beguiled the crowd with her openness and vulnerability.

There were even tears in some eyes when she sang songs about loneliness, an unrequited desire to become a mother and what to do with her ashes when she passes on.
