The biannual Flower Festival was held at St Julitta’s Church, Lanteglos by Camelford.

Some 29 local organisations and businesses created flower arrangements that would have won prizes at any flower show. Everyone commented on how wonderful they looked. During the three days of the Festival the church was busy with visitors, young and old who came from far and wide to see the displays, to enjoy excellent refreshments and to listen to the organ played in the background, by Gareth Stubberfield, Jennifer Wood, Paul Richards, Margaret Salzman, Joyce Brown, Margaret Dickinson and John Pearce.

The festival was established as a fund raising event when St Julitta’s was under threat of closure. Joan Goodman was the organiser for many years and now the Goodman family with their relatives and friends continue the good work, raising over £2,800 this year for church funds. The festival included a fantastic evening gig with Mike Silver, Julie Boreham and Kate Ritz together with Rob Barratt the comic poet. Finally the whole event ended with a traditional sung evensong.

A spokesperson added: “Perhaps the really special feature of the Flower Festival is the wonderful collaboration between everyone involved to benefit both the community and the church.”
