Tregadillett Community Primary School is staging a very unusual outdoor art exhibition on Saturday, June 20 in which all the exhibits will have been made from locally sourced natural materials.

The first ever Community Outdoor Natural Art Exhibition will take place at the school between 10.30am and 4pm.

"The aim of the exhibition is to celebrate the creativity of the local community and to draw inspiration from nature and the environment by developing a variety of art pieces all made from locally sourced natural materials," said Headteacher Mary Dolan.

"These will range from miniature creations using tiny shells and seeds through to very large sculptures."

The school is inviting the local community to get involved in the exhibition and hopes that children, adults, artists and aspiring artists, businesses, clubs and families will come together to showcase their skills and celebrate their talents.

The exhibits can be anything from abstract sculptures, through to pictures or even jewellery. They can be created on site prior to the event or brought in on the morning or the day before. They can also be individual or group efforts.

"People can use any natural materials to make their exhibits," said Mary Dolan. "These could range from large or small stones, pieces of slate, logs, interesting pieces of wood that are natural not processed, clay soil for pottery, sand, grit, pebbles and shells to dried seeds, fir cones, any natural materials suitable for weaving or any plants or flowers."

The exhibition will take place regardless of the weather with smaller exhibits being placed in the school hall and plenty of umbrellas to hand if it rains. If you would like to exhibit your work please contact the head teacher on 01566 772844.

Anyone who is unable to create an exhibit is invited to go along on 20 June.

Refreshments will be on sale throughout the day, including a BBQ, cream teas and pizzas from the school's earth oven.
