PUPILS, who have been busy learning about the value of clean water, have managed to raise more than £100 so far for the charity WaterAid.
Last week, all 128 schoolchildren at Tregadillett Primary School joined together outside to make a ‘pipeline’ — each had a cup and passed water along, trying not to spill any.
At the end, the remaining water was poured into a kettle, to see if there was enough to make a cup of tea for some waiting parents.
The pupils also took part in some water games, all organised by teacher Flo Bailey.
Elaine Henbest, the school’s business manager, said: “The idea was to make the children appreciate how lucky we are to have water in our taps.
“This half term the theme is all about water. We are keen on outside learning any way. It’s just a different way of working in school. The children were grinning and loving it!
“It’s great because they have gained an awareness of how different people around the world can get clean water and the huge effect it can have.”
The school raised £75 through the ‘Pupil Pipeline’ event. A cake and biscuit sale by the younger children last week raised £30, while the older children also held a sale later in the week.
