AFRICAN drumming, dancing, singing and craft-making were more than evident at Sir James Smith's Community School, Camelford, recently.
The music and song was enthusiastically introduced to the classrooms by the Pearl of Africa Choir who visited Sir Jim's during the day, before providing a dynamic evening performance, open to all members of the public, in the school hall.
The day-time activities included four very well received Year 8 workshops — playing African drums, learning a Ugandan song, making beads from paper and traditional African dancing – plus a performance during the final period. Younger students at the school, and pupils from Camelford Primary School, eagerly watched the concert held in the hall.
