THE performance of students at Sir James Smith’s School has exceeded national average scores across the board.
Secondary schools in North Cornwall generally perform better than national averages but Sir James Smith’s School has done so across seven of the eight indicators.
The school in Camelford is the second smallest in Cornwall and is celebrating the success of its students.
Headteacher Jon Lawrence said: “Our pupils perform brilliantly against local schools and in almost all of the key indicators come out at, or near, the top of the 32 secondary schools in Cornwall.
“Regardless of ability, all our pupils performed magnificently, at least fourth best in the county.
“Our brightest pupils performed better here than in any other Cornish school, something made possible by the partnership working of teachers, pupils and parents.
“No school in Cornwall added more value to the performance of its most disadvantaged pupils than Sir James Smith’s did. This is a school where all pupils matter and no one is left behind, a virtue of being a small school. We set high standards and have ambitious expectations of all our students.
