PUPILS and parents at North Petherwin Primary have brought their school garden back to life with the help of expert advice.

Following a successful Family Learning IT Scratch coding course at the school, parents asked for a course to improve the school garden and families' own skills.

During the 'Seeds, Soup and Sarnies' course, tutored by horticulturist Rob Wilson, families have reclaimed overgrown areas of the garden, learned about planting seeds and brought the school garden back to life. Rob has also incorporated some tasting of different vegetables, which are now being grown to introduce new flavours to the children and hopefully inspire the families to work together and grow plants at home and enjoy new recipes.

Parents have said: "Rob is an enthusiastic teacher and great with the children and adults. My daughter really enjoyed setting up the beanpoles and tying the knots. On the gardening course it has been lovely to work with our children and improve the school garden"

"It has been lovely watching the children create, do different things and learning new skills to do with the children at home."

"It has been inspiring and great to gain confidence and learn new skills with my child."
