On Monday, March 28 the members of Granville Chapter No. 3405 gathered a the Masonic Hall in Bude for their second meeting of 2022.

The meetings are known as convocations and Chapters are affiliated to Lodges and usually take the same number and name as the lodge.

There were a number of items on the agenda including the investiture of officers who had been appointed to various offices but, mainly due to the Covid pandemic, had been unable to attend the previous meeting and receive the collars. Member Angus Fruin was finally presented with his Supreme Grand Chapter Certificte following administrative delays caused by the pandemic. The certificate was presented by Keith Taylor, the chapter secretary, known as the Scribe, who pointed out the symbolism and many interesting and important parts of the certificate.

The certificate confirms the registration in Supreme Grand Chapter of Companion Frewin and is a form of Masonic passport.

A new member who has recently moved to the area from Somerset was welcomed into the chapter and a visitor from the Province of Worcestershire was greeted by the members. A very interesting talk was given by the Immediate Past First Principal Charlie Yelland regarding the history of freemasonry in general and Chapters in particular

Reports were received from the Secretary, the Almoner and the Charity Steward and after the meeting the members dined together when the usual toasts were observed. A raffle and other fund raising saw over £75 collected for charitable purposes. The next meeting of the chapter will take place on Monday, September 26 in Bude.
