THE members of Miss Patten’s science club from last year at St Joseph’s School were invited to the Otter and Butterfly sanctuary at Buckfastleigh on Monday, April 11, to be presented with the school’s Primary Science Quality Mark Gold Award.

The award is in recognition of the school’s commitment to quality science provision.

A school spokesperson said: “It was a hugely enjoyable day for everyone, and the children were even treated a talk on the work of the sanctuary.

“One of the true highlights of the day was coming face to face with some of the world’s most exotic butterflies.

“They also had encounters with inquisitive otters and watched them being fed whilst they showed off their swimming prowess underwater. The children were certainly very proud of their award as you can see.”
