PUPILS, staff and governors have been celebrating at Holsworthy C of E Primary School following their recent visit by Ofsted.
The inspector graded the school’s overall effectiveness as ‘good’ and recognised the significant progress made by the school over the last two years.
The quality and enthusiasm of the leadership and teaching team, the challenge and support provided by governors and the greatly improved progress of the pupils were among the achievements recognised in the report.
Headteacher Tim Salvadori said: “It’s all down to the fantastic commitment and hard work of my wonderful staff and pupils. We have undergone significant changes over the last two years and we are seeing the benefits, as there have been considerable improvements to standards of teaching and learning and pupil’s outcomes. It is great for everyone to see all the hard work paying off.
“I am very proud of the positive culture which we now have in the school. This will enable us to grow from strength to strength.”
Her Majesty’s inspector Nathan Kemp recognised the impact of the improvements made at the school. In his report to Mr Salvadori, he wrote: “You have placed a great emphasis on the consistency of the school’s approach to teaching, learning and assessment, recognising that quality teaching is vital to improve outcomes for pupils. As a result, all staff receive regular training opportunities and are well equipped in their roles. You have galvanised the staff team in a short space of time; all feel valued and supported.”
Mr Kemp added: “As a result, you can now lead a team that wholeheartedly supports your high expectations and fully endorses your ‘no excuses’ culture. Parents also recognise the positive changes across the school.”
